Career Change Coaching
Career change coaching can be a very useful tool during your transition from job loss to career change. If you are not 100% sure what your next career is going to be, then consider professional coaching. You might have narrowed down your ideas and are not sure exactly how to get started. Maybe you have made a list of good career ideas based on what you like to do - and have researched the topic as much as you know how. But now you find yourself stuck and not sure what to do next.
One of your options is to hire a professional career coach. These are people who will help walk you through the steps and teach you how to begin a new endeavor. You will want to find someone who has experience with career change coaching and has a good track record. They should be willing to meet with you either in person or on the phone and have an in-depth discussion about your career goals. There will be a fee for their service so make sure you are dealing with someone who is reputable. If you find a career coach that you are interested in, do an online search with their name and "reviews" in the search box.
Search online for "career change coaching" to get started with your search. You can look for someone in your local area by also including your location in the search criteria. One source that I have found which seems to be very reputable is coaching services by
who is a well renowned coach and public speaker. Go ahead and browse through her website to see what you can expect. You will need to fill out a short form on the website to be contacted and the fee is determined during the initial consultation.
Another idea is to read books written by a career change coach. This will probably be a less expensive option, but you will not have the benefit of a one on one session. Either way, if you like to read then it certainly can't hurt to have as many resources as possible. You might want to try this first before spending money on a personal coach. You know yourself better than anyone else and know what will work for you. I am a reader and so I always look for books on my subject of interest as a starting point.
I have already researched a few books to help you get started. Here is a list of about 16 books regarding career change coaching that can be purchased on
Most are very reasonably priced - and it doesn't hurt to have as many resources as possible.
Read as much as you can to help you with your career change journey. There is no one single website, book, magazine, or seminar that can give you every answer that you need. This website is designed to help you as much as possible and give you a starting point. My knowledge only goes so far, which is why I include recommendations for other sources.
Bottom line? It's all up to you! Your motivation to succeed has to come from within. Even with career change coaching, no one else is going to do it all for you. So get whatever help you need - then continue to move ahead on your journey to financial freedom! All the steps along the way will be well worth your time in the end.
"Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly." - Stephen R. Covey, author
